The team behind Luxury Phinisi combines four generations of Indonesian maritime expertise with hospitality leadership trained at the world’s leading luxury brands. Operated by Komodo Luxury — Indonesia’s most established luxury yacht platform with over 1,200 successful charters since 2018 — every Luxury Phinisi voyage is delivered by professionals whose credentials would not be out of place at Aman, Como, or Four Seasons.

Captain Andi began his career at age 17 as a deckhand aboard cargo phinisis running between Makassar and Surabaya. He earned his Indonesian Master Mariner certification in 2008 and has commanded luxury phinisis since 2012, including five years aboard ultra-luxury flagship vessels operating in Komodo and Raja Ampat under the Komodo Luxury operations umbrella.
His operational expertise covers Komodo strait navigation in all sea states (he has logged over 800 successful crossings), Raja Ampat dive site planning including safe approach to Manta Sandy and Cape Kri during current days, Banda Sea grand expedition routing — he has personally captained eight 21-day Banda Sea charters — and emergency response and weather routing with a flawless safety record across his career. Andi sets the operational protocols every captain in our fleet follows. He personally interviews every captain we onboard and audits every charter for safety and service standards.

Chef Ratu trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Bangkok before completing chef rotations at Aman Tokyo, the Mandarin Oriental Bali, and Como Shambhala Estate. She joined the Komodo Luxury group in 2022 as Culinary Director, where she developed the menu framework, dietary protocols, and chef training program that every vessel in our network uses.
Her work covers daily menus designed for week-long charters that never repeat dishes, dietary protocols for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, kosher (advance notice), halal, and 18 common allergy categories, chef training where every Luxury Phinisi chef rotates through her one-week intensive at our Bali test kitchen before sailing, and sourcing relationships with farms in Bali, Lombok, and Flores for fresh produce, plus direct partnerships with Bira fishing cooperatives for sustainable seafood. Ratu personally reviews every dietary requirement that comes through our booking system and signs off on every menu before departure.

Reza built his career at Aman Bali, where he spent six years as senior guest relations officer before transitioning to private concierge work for high-net-worth clients across Southeast Asia. He joined Luxury Phinisi in 2023 specifically to build our U.S. market service infrastructure — the first phinisi operator in Indonesia to staff a dedicated U.S. concierge desk.
Reza’s responsibilities include direct concierge support for every U.S. guest from inquiry through post-charter follow-up, pre-charter logistics including flight coordination, hotel bookings, ground transport, dietary briefings, and dive certification verification, real-time WhatsApp support during charters available 9 AM to 9 PM Eastern, and travel advisor partnerships — Reza maintains direct relationships with leading U.S. travel agencies, Virtuoso members, and AmEx Platinum/Centurion advisors. If you message us during U.S. business hours, the response is almost always coming directly from Reza’s team. He sets the standard that every reply, regardless of complexity, goes out within one hour.

Yogi Krisna is the founder of Komodo Luxury and CEO of its parent company, Juara Holding Group. He built his career in Indonesian luxury tourism starting with Komodo Luxury in 2018, scaling it into the country’s most established luxury phinisi platform. By 2024, the group had served over 10,000 guests and expanded across five vertical brands: Komodo Luxury, Bali Premium Trip, Bali Premium Villa, Indonesia Juara Trip, and Juara Production.
Yogi launched Luxury Phinisi as the U.S.-focused specialty arm of the group in 2025, recognizing that American travelers were dramatically underserved by Indonesia’s existing luxury yacht operators. His mandate for the brand is simple: build the operator that finally meets U.S. luxury hospitality standards while delivering the authentic phinisi heritage that no Mediterranean or Caribbean yacht can offer.
His operational priorities are deep relationships with shipwrights in Tana Beru and Bira to ensure every vessel in our fleet is a true phinisi built in the traditional manner, direct partnerships with park authorities (Komodo NP, Raja Ampat Marine Park, Wakatobi NP) to streamline guest experience, building the U.S. service infrastructure including USD pricing, U.S. bank account, AmEx acceptance, U.S.-hours concierge, and travel advisor partnerships, and cultural curation programming that turns every charter into an authentic encounter with Indonesian maritime heritage. Yogi personally oversees brand standards and is reachable directly via the founder’s line for charters at the ultra-luxury and flagship tier.

What this means in practice: deep fleet relationships covering 40+ phinisi vessels across all luxury tiers, established government and park authority partnerships (Komodo NP, Raja Ampat Marine Park, Wakatobi NP, Banda Sea regional offices), full insurance and safety compliance under Indonesian Maritime Authority (KSOP) annual inspection, and integrated logistics across Bali, Labuan Bajo, Sorong, Ambon, Saumlaki, and beyond.

Beyond the four leaders above, every charter is operated by a vetted crew of 8–14 professionals: captain, first mate, chef, sous chef, deckhands, dive guide (where applicable), housekeepers, and engineers. Every crew member completes Indonesian Maritime Safety certification, a one-week hospitality training rotation at our Bali test kitchen and partner hotels, annual recertification across safety, first aid, and service standards, and English language certification at minimum B2 level for guest-facing roles.
Crew turnover at Luxury Phinisi is below 8 percent annually — substantially lower than the industry average of 25–35 percent. Many of our crew have been with the group across multiple seasons, and our captains in particular average over four years with the group.
Every inquiry that comes through our system is reviewed by a member of our leadership team. For most charters, you will be working directly with Reza’s concierge team. For ultra-luxury and flagship charters, Yogi or Captain Andi will personally be involved in the planning.
