Labuan Bajo (Komodo Airport, code LBJ) on Flores Island is the gateway port for all Komodo phinisi charters. We recommend building in 2 nights in Bali on either end of your charter for jet lag recovery.

Cathay Pacific

Hong Kong hub. Strong premium product. Multiple daily flights to Bali from Hong Kong. Good first-class option for ultra-luxury travelers.

Qatar Airways

Doha hub. Industry-leading business class (Q-Suite). Long total transit time but the comfort factor and AmEx Centurion partnership benefits make this excellent for premium travelers.

ANA / Japan Airlines

Tokyo hub. Excellent on-board service and food. Slightly longer overall route from East Coast U.S. but premium product is consistently top-rated.

United / American

Should You Stop in Bali?

Yes, almost always. Most U.S. clients build in 2 nights in Bali on either end of the Komodo charter for these reasons:

Jet lag recovery: 14-15 hour time zone change from U.S. is significant. Two nights in Bali helps you sleep, hydrate, and arrive at your phinisi rested.
Cultural exploration: Bali offers Ubud temples, Tanah Lot, Uluwatu kecak dance, traditional cooking classes, and rice terraces.
Buffer for missed flights: If your international flight is delayed, you have a 2-night buffer before the LBJ flight. International to LBJ same-day connections are risky.
Pre-charter shopping: Bali has international supermarkets (Pepito, Bintang) where you can buy alcohol for your phinisi BYO at reasonable prices. Labuan Bajo alcohol selection is limited and expensive.

3-hour layover minimum in Asian hub for international connections. International immigration/customs adds time.
4-hour minimum for international-to-LBJ same-day if you must (we don’t recommend, but if you must).
Bali airport (DPS): arrival immigration can take 30-90 minutes during peak. AmEx Platinum / Centurion fast-track available.
Komodo Airport (LBJ): small airport, no immigration. Our concierge meets you at arrivals. Total time from plane to phinisi: 30-45 minutes.

Indonesia Visa for U.S. Citizens

U.S. passport holders can use the Visa on Arrival (VOA) for stays up to 30 days. Cost: IDR 500,000 (≈$32). Pay in cash or by card at Bali (DPS) or Jakarta (CGK) airports. Or apply for e-VOA online before travel at evisa.imigrasi.go.id (same cost, faster airport clearance).
